Turkey’s Kaptan Demir Celik produces first wire rod at new mill

Turkey-based Kaptan Demir Çelik (Kaptan Iron & Steel), part of Kaptan Group, has started wire rod production at its new mill supplied by UK-based plantmaker Primetals Technologies.

The mill with an annual production capacity of 500,000 mt has expanded the company’s product portfolio to include such value-added products as coiled rebar, fine-grain rebar with low alloy costs, welding wire, austenitic stainless steel and cold heading grades, to serve the domestic and export markets.

Kaptan Demir Çelik has an annual production capacity of 1.4 million mt of billet and 1.4 million mt of rebar.
