Turkey’s Kardemir to build new steel billet concaster

On March 29, Turkish steelmaker Kardemir announced that it has signed a contract with Switzerland-based equipment supplier for long product steel production SMS CONCAST of SMS Group for the supply of a new steel billet and bloom continuous caster.
 
Accordingly, with a contract value of €14 million ($19.72 million) SMS CONCAST will supply a continuous steel billet and bloom plant with an annual production capacity of 1.2 million mt. The plant is scheduled to be completed within 11 months.
 
Kardemir has also said that the total investment for the project amounts to €35 million ($49.33 million).
