Turkey’s Kocaer to build geothermal power plant in Aydın

Turkey-based steelmaker Kocaer Çelik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (Kocaer Çelik) has announced that the drilling works for its Kocaer 1 geothermal power plant in Kuyucak, Aydın, which will be equipped with the world’s most advanced environmental technologies and standards, is still ongoing and that the environmental impact assessment process for the project has begun.

In the first phase of the project with an investment cost of TRY 2.62 billion ($79.40 million), the company plans to commission the plant with an installed capacity of 24 MW and dual cycle technology in the first quarter of 2026. Following the commissioning, Kocaer aims to continue investing in the second and third phases of the project in accordance with the capacity of the geothermal resources on the land. The company stated that the project is progressing in line with its planned timeline.
