In April this year, Turkey’s pig iron imports amounted to 142,843 mt, up 3.6 percent year on year and by 10.5 percent compared to March, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey’s pig iron imports in the given month decreased by 19.0 percent year on year to $72.40 million, up by 16.4 percent compared to the previous month.
Meanwhile, in the January-April period this year, Turkey’s pig iron imports amounted to 453,244 mt, down 3.6 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $215.75 million, decreasing by 26.6 percent compared to the same period of 2022.
In the given period, Turkey imported 265,058 mt of pig iron from Russia, up 19.8 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey’s pig iron import sources in the same period, followed by Ukraine which supplied 76,579 mt.
