In November last year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 66,007 mt, increasing by 29.09 percent month on month and down 32.76 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month was $27.27 million, up 24.81 percent month on month and decreasing by 27.93 percent compared to November 2012. According to the data for November last year, the average price for Turkish pig iron imports was $413.18/mt, decreasing from the average of $427.34/mt recorded in October.
In the first 11 months of 2013, Turkey's pig iron imports totaled 760,722 mt, decreasing by 38 percent, with a value of $323.077 million, down 42.99 percent, both year on year.
In January-November last year, Turkey imported 472,017 metric tons of pig iron from Ukraine, down 42.08 percent year on year. However, Ukraine remained Turkey's largest pig iron source in the first 11 months, followed by Russia which supplied 220,378 mt, down 36.80 percent year on year. Meanwhile in November, Ukraine supplied 64.90 percent of Turkey's overall pig iron imports, with a total of 42,841 mt.
