Turkey’s scrap imports down 14.8 percent in 2015

In 2015, Turkey's scrap import volume decreased by 14.8 percent to 16.25 million metric tons amid reduced Turkish crude steel production, while these imports were valued at $4.29 billion, down 40 percent due to decreases in prices, both on year-on-year basis, according to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
 
In 2015, Turkey's scrap imports from EU countries decreased by 22.5 percent to 7.94 million mt, its scrap imports from the US declined by 3.8 percent to 3.84 million mt, while scrap imports from CIS countries amounted to 3.57 million mt, down 2.6 percent, all on year-on-year basis.
