Turkey’s scrap imports down 17.1 percent in January

In January this year, Turkey's scrap import volume decreased by 17.1 percent year on year to 1.14 million metric tons, down 34.5 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $224.55 million, down 48.7 percent year on year and falling 33.2 percent compared to December last year.
 

 
In the given month, Turkey imported 260,593 mt of scrap from the Russia, up 21.22 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading scrap import source, ahead of the US which supplied 241,710 mt in the given period, up 30.92 percent year on year.
