According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in June this year Turkey's stainless flat steel imports fell by 35.7 percent compared to the previous month and were up 9.9 percent compared to June 2011, amounting to 25,932 metric tons. The value of these imports was $66.4 million, decreasing by 37.8 percent as compared to May this year and down 3.8 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first half of the current year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports amounted to 189,193 metric tons, increasing 9.1 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
In June year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports from Taiwan amounted to 6,296 metric tons, increasing by 40 percent year on year. Turkey's second biggest source of stainless flat steel imports in June this year was Germany with 3,527 metric tons, up 46 percent compared to the same month of 2011.
