Turkey's steel billet imports up 117.87 percent in Nov over Oct

In November last year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 79.96 percent year on year to 305,723 metric tons, up 117.87 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $163.52 million, up 69.72 percent year on year and increasing by 108.60 percent compared to the previous month.

Meanwhile, in the January-November period of last year, Turkey imported 2.73 million mt of billet and bloom, up 27.59 percent, with a value of $1.51 billion, increasing by 14.48 percent, both year on year.

In November last year, Turkey imported 151,518 mt of billet and bloom from Ukraine, 151.29 percent higher month on month and 35.68 percent higher compared to November 2012, occupying first place among Turkey's major billet and bloom import sources in the given month, ahead of Russia. In the given month, Turkey imported 73,665 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, 4.36 percent higher month on month and 213.52 percent higher year on year. Meanwhile in the first 11 months of last year Ukraine's billet and bloom exports to Turkey increased by 28.07 percent year on year to 1.40 million mt, with Ukraine being the top supplier of billet and bloom to Turkey in this period.
