In September this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 14 percent year on year to 259,009 metric tons and increased by 56.9 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $141.36 million, down 14.6 percent year on year and increasing by 55.8 percent compared to the previous month.
Meanwhile, in the first nine months of this year Turkey imported 2.24 million mt of billet and bloom, down 1.8 percent, with a value of $1.21 billion, decreasing by 4.6 percent, both year on year.
In the first nine months, Turkey imported 1.21 million mt of billet and bloom from Ukraine, 1.9 percent higher year on year, with Ukraine ranking first among Turkey's main billet and bloom import sources, ahead of Russia which supplied 724,856 mt in the given period, down 1.1 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in September this year Ukraine was the leading source for Turkey's billet and bloom imports, supplying 108,185 mt, down 12.4 percent year on year.
