Turkey's steel export value up 20 percent in June

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in June this year Turkey's foreign trade deficit increased by five percent to $6.55 billion compared to June 2015. In the first half of this year, Turkey's foreign trade deficit decreased by 16 percent year on year to $27.98 billion.
 
In June, Turkey's iron and steel exports ranked sixth among the country's products with the highest export value, totaling $637.55 million, increasing by 20 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the given month the value of exports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked ninth among the products with the highest export value, fell by 7.9 percent year on year, amounting to $447.9 million.
 
In the first half of this year, Turkey's iron and steel export value decreased by 18.7 percent to $2.9 billion, while the value of its exports of articles of iron or steel declined by 10.8 percent to $2.51 billion, both year on year.
