Turkey’s steel export volume down 2.7 percent in January-May

In the January-May period of this year, Turkey's steel exports decreased by 2.7 percent year on year to 6.95 million mt, while the value of these exports decreased by 19.3 percent year on year to $4.25 billion, according to the data released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). 
 
In the given period, Turkey's long steel exports decreased by 4.5 percent to 4.29 million mt, with a value of $1.64 billion, down 26.4 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the mentioned period, the flat steel exports of Turkey increased by 16.4 percent to 1.08 million mt, with the value of these exports falling by 19.1 percent to $490.2 million, while semi-finished exports of the country fell by 49.2 percent to 83,488 mt, with a value of $50.39 million, down 48.1 percent, all on year-on-year basis.
 
In May this year, Turkey's steel exports grew by 6.8 percent to 1.25 million mt, with a value of $1.34 billion, down 6.2 percent, both year on year.
