In the January-August period of this year, Turkey's steel exports increased by 0.2 percent year on year to 11.22 million mt, while the value of these exports decreased by 13.6 percent year on year to $7.05 billion, according to the data released by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
In the given period, Turkey's long steel exports rose by one percent to 7.0 million mt, while flat steel exports increased by 11.9 percent to 1.8 million mt, both on year-on-year basis.
In August this year, Turkey's steel exports grew by 14.1 percent to 1.59 million mt, with a value of $1.02 billion, up 7.3 percent, both year on year.
In August, in particular exports of flat steel products indicated a remarkable year-on-year increase. In August this year, Turkey's flat steel exports grew by 62 percent to 325,000 mt, while the long steel product exports of the country increased by five percent to 912,000 mt, both compared to the same month of 2015. In the same month, Turkish semi-finished exports increased by 73.3 percent to 44,000 mt, year on year.
