According to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), in July this year Turkey’s steel imports decreased by 17.4 percent to 1.4 million mt, with a value of $872 million, down 19.2 percent, both year on year.
In the given month, Turkey’s semi-finished imports decreased by 28.8 percent to 511,000 mt, while Turkey’s flat steel imports fell by 12.1 percent to 663,000 mt, both compared to the same month last year.
In the January-July period of this year, Turkey's steel imports increased by 4.6 percent year on year to 11.23 million mt, while the value of these imports decreased by 9.7 percent year on year to $6.62 billion.
In the first seven months of this year, Turkey’s semi-finished imports fell by 5.3 percent to 4.12 million mt, while Turkey’s flat steel imports continued to increase with a 10.1 percent rise to 5.38 million mt, both compared to the same period last year.
In July this year, Turkey's steel export volume was equivalent to 91 percent of its steel import volume, compared to 98 percent in the same month last year.
