As stated by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), in October this year Turkey’s steel imports from China fell by 62.9 percent to 133,160 mt, year on year, due to the decrease in billet imports.
In the given month, Turkey’s billet imports from the same source declined by 95.2 percent to 10,600 mt in October, year on year.
Turkey’s steel imports from China in the January-October period of this year fell by 7.3 percent on year-on-year basis to 2.16 million mt, with the impact of the sharp decrease in October imports from China.
In the first ten months of this year, in spite of the fall in the total steel imports from China, Turkey’s billet imports from this source increased, with a 1.4 percent rise on year-on-year basis to 1.07 million mt. In the January-October period of this year, Turkey’s flat steel imports from China decreased by 35.3 percent to 466,600 mt, while its long steel imports from the same country were up by 55.3 percent to 283,600 mt, both on year-on-year basis.
