According to the statistics provided by the Turkish Steel Pipe Manufacturers Association (CEBID), in the first nine months of this year Turkey's total steel pipe exports amounted to 1.35 million metric tons, increasing by 9.8 percent compared to the corresponding period last year. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $1.26 billion, up by 1.9 percent compared to January-September 2011. According to CEBID, falling raw material prices worldwide have been reflected in steel pipe prices, as in all steel product prices. In the January-September period of the year, the export price of steel pipe from Turkey fell to $936/mt FOB, down seven percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the first nine months, Turkey's biggest destinations for steel pipe exports were the US, Iraq and the UK. Meanwhile, due to the continuous economic crisis in the EU, significant decreases have been seen in Turkey's steel pipe exports to EU countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy.
In September this year, Turkey's total steel pipe exports amounted to 163,459 metric tons, surging by 9.1 percent year on year and up 7.2 percent compared to August, while the revenue from these exports totaled $151.1 million, falling 2.4 percent compared to September 2011.
