Turkey’s billet imports up by 5.3 percent in January-October

In October this year, Turkey’s billet and bloom imports amounted to 628,529 metric tons, up by 97.6 percent compared to September and by 500.2 percent year on year, according to the preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these imports totaled $334.11 million, increasing by 90.9 percent compared to the previous month and by 481.5 percent year on year.

In the January-October period, Turkey's billet and bloom imports amounted to 2,803,755 mt, up 5.3 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 1.2 percent to $1.56 billion, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey’s largest billet and bloom import source was Russia, which supplied 541,235 mt. Russia was followed by Malaysia with 531,806 mt and Indonesia with 329,644 mt.
