Turkey’s pig iron imports decrease by 6.6 percent in January-October

In October this year, Turkey’s pig iron imports amounted to 97,561 metric tons, up by 35.1 percent compared to September and down by 26.2 percent year on year, according to the preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the value of these imports totaled $38.52 million, increasing by 24.9 percent compared to the previous month and down by 10.7 percent year on year.

In the January-October period, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 1.12 million mt, down 6.55 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 10.7 percent to $459.2 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey’s largest pig iron import source was Russia, which supplied 693,236 mt. Russia was followed by Kazakhstan with 156,931 mt and Ukraine with 72,396 mt.
