Turkish motor vehicle output up one percent in August

In August this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 78,087 units, rising by one percent year on year and down 29 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the January-August period of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 914,914 units, up seven percent year on year.
 
In August alone, passenger car output amounted to 52,296 units, increasing by 16 percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 25,791 units, down 19 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the first eight months of this year, passenger car output totaled 562,692 units, up 13 percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 352,222 units, down two percent, both compared to the same period of 2015.
 
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 53 percent in August this year, while the rate was 79 percent in the January-August period of the year.
