In February this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 54,223 units, decreasing by seven percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 40,588 units, down one percent year on year. Meanwhile, in January-February period of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales amounted to 87,963 units, down eight percent on year-on-year basis.
In the first two months of the current year, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 167,482 units, up five percent, while passenger car exports decreased by one percent to 98,770 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 65,739 small trucks, up 26 percent year on year. In the period in question, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports increased by two percent to $3.57 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $958 million, decreasing by 16 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In February of the current year, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 36,621 units, remaining stable year on year, while passenger car imports totaled 30,295 units, up two percent, year on year. In the first two months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 57,587, down two percent, while passenger car imports reached 46,252 units, falling by one percent, both compared to the same period of 2015.
