In April this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 87,041 units, decreasing by nine percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 65,618 units, down seven percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the January-April period of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales amounted to 260,218 units, decreasing by seven percent on year-on-year basis.
In the first four months of the current year, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 359,442 units, up seven percent, while passenger car exports increased by two percent to 214,958 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 137,989 small trucks, up 31 percent year on year. In the period in question, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports increased by seven percent to $7.69 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $2.18 billion, decreasing by nine percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In April of the current year, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 56,694 units, decreasing by seven percent year on year, while passenger car imports totaled 47,005 units, down seven percent, year on year. In the first four months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 172,446, falling by two percent, while passenger car imports reached 140,963 units, dropping by one percent, both compared to the same period of 2015.
