The Ukraine's Ministry of Economy has announced that up to the end of 2009 the tariffs for railway transportation for the domestic metallurgical companies will remain stable.

"The memorandum on understanding (MoU) with the country's mining and metallurgical companies has been prolonged until the end of the current year. Respectively, the tariffs for railway transportation for them will not be increased," the Ukraine's minister of economy Bohdan Danilishin stated.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, in November 2008 the Ukrainian government and the country's mining and metallurgical companies signed an MoU aimed at the minimization of the consequences of the economic crisis in the industry, in particular at the stabilization of prices for ore, coal and steel products, the maintenance of jobs, salary levels and other social securities for employees, and also the development of the Ukrainian domestic market. In August this year, the Ukrainian cabinet of ministers prolonged the MoU until the end of 2009.
