Ukraine’s crude steel output up 16.4 percent in January-April

In the January-April period of the current year, Ukraine's crude steel output increased by 16.4 percent year on year to 8.23 million mt, according to the data issued by Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom.

In the given period, the country’s pig iron output increased by 22.3 percent year on year to 7.87 million mt, while its finished steel production rose by 17.1 percent year on year to 7.22 million mt. In the same period, Ukraine’s metallurgical coke output expanded by 34.9 percent to 4.44 million mt, while its steel pipe production amounted to 258,900 mt, down 10.4 percent, both compared to the same period of 2015.

Meanwhile, in April alone, Ukraine produced 1.99 million mt of pig iron, down 3.8 percent compared to the previous month, 2.12 million mt of crude steel, falling by 3.9 percent month on month, and 1.90 million mt of finished steel, remaining stable month on month.
