Ukraine’s Metinvest issues Jan-May production results of iron ore subsidiaries

The Ukrainian mining and steel producing company Metinvest Holding (Metinvest) has issued the production results of its iron ore subsidiaries for the first five months of 2009.

Accordingly, in January-May 2009 Metinvest's Central GOK (CGOK) registered a 37.8 percent decrease in its concentrate production, but a 1.5 percent increase in its pellets output, both compared to the same period last year. The respective figures in metric tons were 1.733 million and 893,800.

During the first five months of 2009, Severniy GOK (SevGOK) produced 5.164 million mt of concentrate - down 13.3 percent year on year, and 3.142 million mt of pellets - down 33.5 percent.

Meanwhile, Metinvest's Inguletskiy GOK (InGOK) during the period in question registered a 41.3 percent decrease year on year in its concentrate output, to 3.670 million mt.
