UK's basic metal manufacturing PPI down 2.4% in Oct

According to a report released by the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS), in October this year the producer price index (PPI) for the UK manufacturing industry fell by 0.3 percent compared to September this year, having remained stable in September compared to August. In the 12 months up to October, the output price index of manufactured products for the domestic market rose 0.8 percent year on year.

In October, the UK's PPI for the basic metal industry fell by 0.2 percent month on month and was down 2.4 percent compared to October 2012. During the given month, the PPI for domestic manufacture of metal products, except machinery, was down 0.1 percent from the previous month and increased by 0.4 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in the imported metals sector, in October this year the input price index of imported basic iron and steel, ferroalloys, tube and pipes in the UK decreased by 1.2 percent month on month and rose by 0.4 percent compared to October 2012, while the input price index of imported other basic metals and casting products fell 2.2 percent compared to the previous month and was down 10.6 percent year on year.
