Russian electric-welded pipe and steel structure producer Urals Pipe Works (Uraltrubprom) has announced the commissioning of its new electric pipe-welding mill 630 with a capacity of 400,000 mt of pipes per year.
The new electric pipe-welding mill 630, which is considered to be unique in Russia, together with Uraltrubprom's existing electric pipe-welding unit 102-377, with a capacity of 250,000 mt, will allow the company to expand the range of its products and to meet the demand of the oil and gas, machine building and construction industries.
Uraltrubprom's new electric pipe-welding mill 630 will produce large diameter round pipes of 219-630 mm diameter, which will amount to about 60 percent of the total output, square pipes of 180 x 180 - 500 x 500 mm size, and rectangular pipes of 220 x 140 - 600 x 400 mm size, with up to 22 mm wall thickness for all pipes. The new mill will allow Uraltrubprom to become the producer in Russia and the CIS with the largest range of square and rectangular pipes in sizes of 80 x 80 mm to 500 x 500 mm and 600 x 400 mm, and to be the first Russian pipemaker to produce large diameter pipes from steel coils.
The modernization program at Uraltrubprom has been ongoing since 2007.
In 2008, Uraltrubprom was the second largest Russian producer and seller of hollow section pipes, and the tenth biggest pipemaker in Russia.
