US and Canadian drilling activity slows

Baker Hughes reported Friday that for the week ending September 28, the US rig count fell by 11 to 1,848, following a five-rig drop the previous week. Year-on-year, the US rig count is down 142. There were 1,410 rigs drilling for oil and 435 searching for natural gas.

Meanwhile, Canada's rig count fell by four to 359 after increasing by nine the week prior. The rig count remained down 151 year-on-year.
