US and Canadian rig counts continue to rise

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending June 17, the US rotary rig count increased by 10 to 424 following a six-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by one to 86, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by nine to 337. The overall rig count is still down by 433 rigs, year-on-year.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by four in the week ending June 17 to 69, following a 24-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 67 from the same week a year ago.
