Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending September 2, the US rotary rig count increased by eight to 497 following a two-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by seven to 88, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by one to 407. The overall rig count is still down by 367 rigs, year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by nine in the week ending September 2 to 137 following a 25-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 50 from the same week a year ago.
