US and Canadian rig counts reverse trend with week-on-week increases

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending September 23, the US rotary rig count increased by five to 511 following a two-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by three to 92, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by two to 418. The overall rig count is still down by 327 rigs, year-on-year.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by six in the week ending September 23 to 138 following a two-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 38 from the same week a year ago.
