Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending September 30, the US rotary rig count increased by 11 to 522 following a five-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by four to 96, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by seven to 425. The overall rig count is still down by 287 rigs, year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 24 in the week ending September 30 to 162 following a six-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 17 from the same week a year ago.
