US cut-length plate exports edge up 2.4 percent in August

US exports of cut-length plate totaled 93,599 mt in August, up 2.4 percent from July but down 3.1 percent from August 2015 levels. By value, exports totaled $84.5 million, up 4.1 percent month-on-month but down 5.0 percent year-on-year.
 
The US shipped the most cut-length plate to Canada in August, with 55,045 mt, compared to 49,428 mt in July and 47,238 mt in August 2015. The only other significant destination (with 1,000 mt or more) for US-produced cut-length plate in August was Mexico, with 36,903 mt.
