US HRC exports up 40.4 percent in May

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot rolled sheet totaled 77534 mt in May 2023, up 40.4 percent from April and up 64.4 percent from May 2022. By value, HRC exports totaled $83.7 million in May, compared to $55.3 million in the previous month and $45.2 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HRC to Mexico in May with 55,598 mt, compared to 36,810 mt in April and 29,547 mt in May 2022. Other top destinations included Canada, with 21,755 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HRC exports in May.
