US iron and steel scrap exports up 4.7 percent in April from March

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,205,537 mt in April this year, up by 4.7 percent month on month and down by 10.6 percent year on year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in April with 464,307 mt, up 79.7 percent month on month and up 40.2 year on year. Other notable destinations in April included Mexico, with 143,366 mt; Taiwan, with 116,942 mt; Bangladesh, with 86,424 mt; and India, with 72,858 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $523.63 million in April 2024, compared to $529.89 million in March and $593.63 million in April last year.
