The US-based Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) has announced that members of the American Line Pipe Producers Association (ALPPA) and other companies have filed a complaint for an antidumping (AD) duty investigation on welded large diameter (LD) line pipe imports from Canada, China, Greece, India, South Korea and Turkey.
According to AIST, in its complaint the ALPPA stated that producers in Canada, China, Greece, India, South Korea and Turkey have been selling pipe at less than fair value, injuring their US counterparts. The association is alleging dumping margins of between 23.5 percent and 138.6 percent for the six countries. Additionally, ALPPA stated that producers in China, India, South Korea and Turkey are benefiting from unfair government subsidies.
Regarding the complaint, John Stupp, president and chief executive of US-based line pipe producer Stupp Corp., a member of the ALPPA, stated that US companies and workers have lost many large projects and massive amounts of sales to dumped and subsidized imports for years, and that it is time to stand up for American manufacturing jobs and to take on these unfairly traded products.
