US raw steel production down 1.6 percent from previous week

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute, in the week ending on October 8, 2016, US domestic raw steel production was 1,585,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 66.8 percent.
 
Production was 1,629,000 net tons in the week ending October 8, 2015 while the capability utilization then was 68.1 percent. The current week production represents a 2.7 percent decrease from the same period in the previous year.
 
Production for the week ending October 8, 2016 is down 1.6 percent from the previous week ending October 1, 2016 when production was 1,611,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 68.9 percent.
 
Adjusted year-to-date production through October 8, 2016 was 68,763,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 71.7 percent. That is down 1.9 percent from the 70,063,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 71.7 percent.
