Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending August 5, the US rotary rig count increased by one to 464 following a one-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by five to 81, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by seven to 381. The overall rig count is still down by 420 rigs, year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by three in the week ending August 5 to 122 following a 17-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 86 from the same week a year ago.
