US rig count edges up while Canadian count declines week-on-week

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending Oct. 27, 2023, the US rotary rig count increased by one to 625.

The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by one to 117, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by two to 504. The overall US rig count is down by 143 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by two to 196 rigs in the week ending Oct. 27. The Canadian rig count is down by 16 rigs compared to the same reporting period last year.
