US rig count increases week-on-week while Canadian rig count drops slightly

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending on July 5, 2024, the US rotary rig count increased by four to 585.

The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by nine to 106, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by six to 479. The overall US rig count is down by 95 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 1 week on week to 175 rigs in the week ending July 5. The Canadian rig count has not changed compared to the same reporting period in the previous year.
