Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending February 12, the US rotary rig count dropped by 30, following a 48-rig decline the week before. This brings the current US rotary rig count to 541. The number of rigs drilling for gas declined by two to 102, while the number of rigs drilling for oil declined by 28 to 439. The overall rig count is still down by 817 rigs, year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 20 in the week ending February 12 to 222, following an 11-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 160 from 382 rigs during the same week a year ago.
