US rig count rises while Canadian count drops again

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending March 11, the US rotary rig count increased by 13 to 663 rigs. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by five to 135, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by eight to 527. The overall rig count is now up by 261 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 11 to 206 rigs in the week ending March 11. The Canadian rig count is now up by 90 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
