Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending August 12, the US rotary rig count increased by 17 to 481 following a one-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by two to 83, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 15 to 396. The overall rig count is still down by 403 rigs, year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by four in the week ending August 12 to 126 following a three-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 85 from the same week a year ago.
