US Steel Canada gives notice of impending lockout

On Thursday, US Steel Canada sent a letter to United SteelWorkers Local 8782, to advise that the company is giving union workers 72 hours' notice of its intention to lockout employees at 9:00am on April 28, 2013.

On Tuesday, Local USW 8782 posted on its website that 70 percent of the 92 percent of members voting voted not to accept a new collective bargaining at US Steel Lake Erie works, a producer of steel slabs and hot rolled sheet.
