US steel exports continue slight rise in June

According to US export data, monthly steel exports in June increased 0.9 percent from May to total 735,919 mt. A year-on-year comparison shows an 8.4 percent decline. Exports to Mexico increased 3.7 percent from the preceding month to 286,613 mt, and decreased 6.6 percent from June 2015. Exports to Canada decreased by 0.1 percent month-on-month to 375,531 mt, which is down 6.9 percent from a year earlier.

Other major destinations for US steel exports in June include: India, at 7,214 mt; Brazil, at 6,587 mt; China, at 4,856 mt; Germany, at 3,557 mt; and Belgium, at 4,145 mt.

Major products exported in June include HDG, at 105,001 mt; cut-length plates, at 101,499 mt; hot rolled sheets, at 51,909 mt; heavy structural shapes, at 45,573 mt; and cold rolled sheets, at 44,513 mt.
