According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, monthly steel exports in October this year decreased 2.2 percent from September and up 2.1 percent year on year to 675,044 mt. In terms of value, US steel exports in October totaled $1.15 billion, compared to $1.19 billion in September and $1.19 billion in October last year.
Steel exports to Mexico in October up 9.4 percent compared to September and were up 20.1 percent year on year to 390,765 mt, while exports to Canada were down 0.1 percent month on month and down 21.1 percent compared to October last year to 244,827 mt.
Other top destinations for US steel exports in October included the Dominican Republic with 1,207 mt, Brazil with 1,854 mt, China with 5,193 mt, India with 1,124 mt, and the United Kingdom with 1,067 mt.
Major steel products exported in October include HDG at 121,194 mt, hot rolled sheets at 74,758 mt, cut-length steel plates at 79,249 mt, cold rolled sheets at 86,420 mt, and plates in coil at 34,915 mt.
