Brazilian miner and iron ore producer Vale performed a third commissioning test at its North pier IV located at its S11D iron ore project, the company said.
According to Vale, the iron ore cargo test was conducted at the pier, whose port terminal should soon be able to simultaneously load two Valemaxes with the product.
It said the first test, made in the end of August, assessed the ship mooring system. The second, in early September, assessed if the ship mooring system as according to the company’s project. The third test looked to access the entire ship loading system, starting from the ore stockyards, passing through the carriers until the ship loaders.
According to Vale, the functional test “ensured the operation of the entire ore route in the port, from the stockyards, ore recovery, transfer system transport for shipment, the 6th boarding line, and the ship loader.”
“The official tests with loads will be held in October, with the loading of three VLOC-class ships, using the two ship loaders (CN-3 and CN-4),” said Jorge Candreva, S11D port project leader.
