Vietnam’s steel sales up 29 percent in Q1

In March this year, Vietnam’s steel production reached 2.12 million mt, up 21.6 percent, while the country’s steel sales increased by 26.6 percent to 1.82 million mt, both compared to March 2017, as announced by the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA). In particular, in the given month, Vietnam’s steel exports more than doubled year on year and reached 432,287 mt.

In the first quarter of the current year, Vietnam’s steel production rose by 25 percent year on year to 5.77 million mt. In the given period, Vietnam’s steel sales reached 4.84 million mt, rising by 29 percent compared to the same period of 2017, with exports increasing by 38.6 percent year on year to 1.159 million mt.
