Austria's largest drawn wire manufacturer, voestalpine Austria Draht GmbH, a subsidiary of the railway systems division of Austria-based voestalpine Group, has announced that it will expand its activities in wire processing and acquire 54 percent of CPA Filament GmbH from the Steinklauber Group.

The company will build a new production facility for ultra-high-tensile fine wire (up to 0.08 mm) at the Fürstenfeld site, within the scope of a joint venture. The new facility is scheduled to begin operations in late 2012.

According to voestalpine's statement, the first stage of the expansion will add an annual capacity of about 3,000 mt and create about 40 new jobs in the region.
