German automaker Volkswagen has announced that it will invest €170 million to build a new car manufacturing facility in its existing Curitiba plant in Brazil to produce the Golf model. The Golf model is currently being imported from Volkswagen's operations in Germany.
The automaker stated that with the expansion the plant's daily car production will increase by 20 percent to 1,000 vehicles.
Earlier this week, another German car producer Daimler announced that it is investing €170 million to build a plant for manufacturing Mercedes-Benz C Class and GLA cars in Brazil. As a part of the Mercedes-Benz 2020 growth strategy, Daimler aims to start production in the new plant in Brazil as early as 2016. The plant will produce 20,000 vehicles per year.
