Iranian mini-mill West Alborz Steel recently commenced commercial production at its second 20 mt induction furnace, which has doubled the mill's annual crude steel capacity from 100,000 mt to 200,000 mt. West Alborz Steel, which is one of just a few Iranian mini-mills to use induction furnace technology, commissioned its first furnace in 2008.

Meanwhile, this steel producer is currently installing equipment at the same site for the establishment of a rolling mill with an annual capacity of 200,000 mt of I-beams, U-beams, angles and other sections. Construction of this mill is expected to be completed by early 2010.

West Alborz Steel is located on a site of 11 hectares close to Abhar city in the northwestern Iranian province of Zanjan province.
